Every year, Kelley Blue Book (KBB) calculates which models and trims are the most cost efficient when it comes to purchasing a new vehicle. Along with final purchase price, KBB analysts also calculate costs of fuel, depreciation, insurance, and financing to determine which vehicles will make it onto their list of 5-Year Cost to Own award winners. After the results have been tallied, KBB organizes the highest performers into many different categories. Here's a glimpse of the 2016 winners of two categories, full sized and midsized pickups to help you decide which used pickup truck is right for you.

Best Full Sized Pickups

It shouldn't be a surprise that the 2016 Ford F-150 takes the top honor in the Best Full Sized Pickup category. The F-150 is an American classic that has continuously impressed drivers with its durability and long lasting toughness. It is a fully capable truck that offers a fuel efficient EcoBoost option which doesn't hinder any aspect of performance. Following the F-150 is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 in second place and the 2016 Toyota Tundra rounding out the top three.

Best Midsized Pickups

The midsized category winner is the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado. The small but powerful truck has a perfect balance of work and comfort that provides drivers with everything they need to get the job done. The incredible details of the Colorado's technology and 4-cylinder V6 engine are what makes it the most cost efficient midsized truck in the lineup. In second and third place are the 2016 GMC Canyon Extended Cab and the 2016 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab, respectively.
